Trepanning has always struck me as a little grosse and risky, but I guess the brain isnt as delicate as we think it is. I also think back when the practice was popular people were a lot more resilient to infection etc as they can be now. The results of a cotton wool society I guess.

I found it rather shocking .. Quite amazed more people did not die, have serious infection or make matters worse !!
