Tonight a local paranormal group is hosting an investigation at the Belvoir Winery in Liberty, Missouri. A very old building on the grounds of the winery was once a retirement home for members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and is said to be among the most haunted places in the state thanks to the sheer numbers of things happening there. I will get home very, very late tonight and post a report of what happens and/or doesn't happen either tonight or after I get up. The group hosting the event was selling tickets in order to raise money to help restore the building as I understand it, so naturally the chance to do a ghost investigation and help preserve a piece of history was too much for me to pass up lol. Maybe there are more spirits there than just the ones in the wine bottles.

About 30 members of various paranormal groups and the general public gathered at the main building by 8:00 PM. Upon arrival we were given additional details about the property. In addition to the main building which has been used for many things over the years including a school, orphanage, homeless shelter during the Depression in the 1930's and the administration building for the Odd Fellows, there is also a hospital building and morgue, nursing home and even an underground storm shelter people call "the bunker".

The weather was clear and cool with temperatures in the low 50's F and the moon was full. The main thing to keep in mind about the weather was the strong gusts of wind all night long which sometimes made it hard to tell if something paranormal was happening or it was the wind rattling the building. I haven't had a chance yet to go over the audio recordings and I can't say for sure if the recordings will be any good or not, but I did get a few photos and learned I need to buy a new camera with infrared

After the introductions and briefing we split up into groups of 7-8 people. My group went first to the former nursing home and I must say it was everything a haunted nursing home should be! We made our way through the darkness following one of the hosts for the event and set up in an upstairs hallway. Our host told us not to go into any of the rooms because with so many windows knocked out the rains come in and the wooden floor isn't structurally sound in some of the rooms. Needless to say I kept out of the rooms. We turned out all of our lights and turned our phones off and began setting up K2 meters and ghost meters up and down the long hallway. You had to be there to understand how much broken glass, broken floor tiles etc were in that hallway and every time somebody moved their foot even slightly by accident it made a crunchy sound. Once we had the equipment on we began to ask questions like "I've come back and brought some friends who would like to visit with you, can you come speak to us?" "Are you glad to have a visitor?" "Do you need the nurse?" "Do you want us to call the nurse for you?" For several minutes the red light on the ghost detector flickered rapidly. We set up an ovulus, which is used for spirit communication. I cannot explain this, but someone asked if we should go now and the machine said "leave now" just as clear as a bell. We also heard the unmistakable sound of footsteps walking in the hallway away from us. Yes, the wind was roaring at that moment, but anybody can tell the difference between human footsteps on a tile floor and wind banging something and making noise. I could even distinctly tell the direction of travel was away from us back down the hallway. The photo I attempted to take down the hall was just blackness. Now for an IR camera.

We then went to the storm shelter. This concrete structure was often used by children living at the orphanage as a hiding place when they didn't want to work in the fields or go to school and today it is haunted by the ghost of a child. Upon entering the bunker we closed the outer doors and set up some equipment. The scene was made all the more creepy due to the fact that a Halloween commercial haunted house was held in the bunker and those people left one of their props behind: a coffin lined with red felt sitting on a platform in the back of the bunker. Inside the bunker are two side "rooms" that give the place the shape of the symbol [ or a block letter "C". The coffin was in one of short arms of the C. In that area they put a laser pointer which emits a grid of laser light and if something passes in front of the laser you will notice some of the green dots going black. In the other section they had a green motion detector light. Someone then asked the ghost if it could give us a sign of its presence and within a few seconds the motion detector was set off. We each were asking questions while trying get EVP's when something caused the doors to the bunker to shake violently, the noise being all the louder in that solid concrete shelter. One of the men jumped to his feet, ran to the door, and yelled out that the wind wasn't blowing near as hard then. We turned our lights off and continued, but we never got anything on the laser pointer. I was sitting on the floor in the dark when I felt something gently tap my left hand. It may have been a bug or it could have been the strap on my flashlight, but something definitely tapped me very lightly, something many other people have experienced in the storm bunker.

The top floor of the Administration Building, the main building at the site, is still in bad shape but is being renovated. This was the school for orphans or children of people who came to live there during the Depression, among other things. We got some intelligent responses on a ghost meter when somebody asked how old the ghost was. The light flashed several times so somebody in the darkness said "Are you three?" and the light made two distinct flashes. Before I could utter a word somebody said "Are you five?" and the device lit up and stayed lit for several seconds! I get goosebumps just typing it in this report. People have heard footsteps on this top floor. I noticed a shadow move in the room but I didn't really think much of it until the lady next to me said she noticed the shadow on that side of the room shift just a bit. We also heard unexplained tapping on the walls, some of which may have been due to the strong winds.

I'm not for sure where I was when I took this one but it was inside the nursing home or just outside before we went in. If you click the photo then go to the icon in the bottom right and click it to enlarge the photo to full size you will notice a shadow as if someone is standing at the corner of the building. You will see bricks to the left half then a lighter area and then what looks like the right shoulder and arm of someone in the darkness. I cannot say for sure that is what this is, and even if I'm seeing the form of a person there were several of was moving about in the darkness at that time.

This is looking down the hallway in the nursing home. You can see a white/yellowish light on the floor from a sensor and the blue light further one is from someone holding a flashlight up the hallway. I could clearly see the person with the naked eye but he didn't show up on camera. At the extreme right of the photo someone is pointing a camera in the same direction. This is where we heard the footsteps and got the ovulus hit telling us to "leave now".

After we left the bunker something caught my eye in the windows on the upper floors.

This is on the top floor of the main building in the area once used as school rooms. We first were getting indications of a child who may have been five years of age and then another entity we believe was an adult, possibly a teacher. Investigators drew a circle with chalk on the floor and then placed a ball in it to see if the child ghost would move it. We were unable to get the ball to move but on another occasion investigators left the ball in a circle and found it outside the circle when they returned.

EVP: We were in the nursing home building and heard some noises and a shadow was seen so we moved down the hallway closer to where these things were coming from. Somebody found a nametag on the floor that said Nanny Milligan. You can hear one of the hosts ask "Is Nanny here?" and then if you really listen very carefully you can hear two or three faint sounds that could be a woman's voice. If you turn your speakers way up and listen to the whole clip you will notice the strong wind sounds in the background at the beginning followed by the sounds of someone tossing a chunk of broken tile down the hallway.

Another odd occurrence happened in the bunker. We were sitting in total darkness when we heard an electronic beeping noise. We turned on the flashlights to see what was beeping and discovered the motion detector had turned itself off.

The more I listen to the EVP the more undecided I am.

I work in a Nursing home , I have 2 ladies that claim to see ghosts and the other one has seen a red haired man at the foot of her bed. Only makes sense you had a lot of action.

Yes, nursing homes are considered by some people to be one of the best places to find ghosts since so many people die there.

Why are some people so closed minded . I said she was probably seeing a ghost , it is common to see them at the foot of your bed , or by the window etc.
I get " NO , she is just having a dream " .. I think " NO" the was she is acting and scared wouldn't you consider that a night terror or nightmare ? People are
afraid maybe and do not want to think about Ghost and Aliens ETC .

Denial is the ultimate shield for some, most skeptics are seldom plagued by supernatural disturbances or alien abductions ....b
