Hey everyone I am currently working on a book about haunted places in Virginia. I know there seem to be a lot of 'Virginia ghost' books but I'm only interested in specific areas; areas that are often left out in most books. If anyone knows of any haunted places or has stories for these areas I would LOVE for you to reply:

Clifton Forge
Covington
Hot Springs/Bath County
Highland County
Lexington/Rockbridge County
Roanoke
Salem
Waynesboro
Staunton
Botetourt County

Also I am interested in any abandoned places/locations of note.

Thanks so much!

Well I've been a civil war buff for over 10 years and I can say with reasonable certainty that Spotsylvania battlefield is haunted. The Bloody Angle was the scene of some of the bloodiest fighting in American military history with thousands of men killed and many thousands more wounded in a short time. I've heard there are residual hauntings of this battlefield along with Chancellorsville, Fredericksburg, and the Wilderness battlefield, all of which are very near each other near the town of Fredericksburg, Virginia. This land along the Rappahannock and Rapidan rivers saw more fighting during the Civil War than any other place in history. Four major battles were fought within a very small area.

Thanks for the welcome Tin Foil Princess (totally cute name, by the way!), I've been a paranormal fan ever since I was a little girl.

It seems almost every small town across the country (or the world even) is bursting at the seams with local legends and ghost stories. Countless towns have 'Seven Gates of Hell' legends or vanishing hitchhiker tales or infamous mansions that supposedly houses murderous inbreds. I live in a very small town in the mountains of Virginia so you'd think I'd be chock full of unbelievable ghost stories, right? Wrong. We're not 'famous' for anything spooky. No haunted bridges, no abandoned cemeteries, no mad ax-man massacre stories, nothing. I love reading about legends in small towns but I get so frustrated and jealous! We have a few supposedly haunted spots but nothing outrageous, so I'm really trying to reach out to anyone who might know something I don't.

Sasqwatcher--I've heard great things about haunted Fredericksburg and I'd love to do some exploring there just for my own personal interest, but it's a bit too out of the area for my book.
