On New Years Day, residents of Beebe, Ark., awoke to find some 5,000 dead blackbirds strewn across roads, lawns and rooftops. Three days later, 125 miles from Beebe, thousands of fish were found dead on riverbanks and floating along the Arkansas River. And Tuesday, the bodies of 500 redwing blackbirds, European starlings and cowbirds were found along a stretch of highway near Baton Rouge, La., after plummeting to their death.

Coincidence or something else?

Definitely NOT co-incidence Sas.

Fish and birds, totally different environments........there's something else going on.

I wonder what could cause this over such a wide area? We may never know.

Could it be from the oil spills? Birds eat fish . Possible chemicals from farmers getting in the water supply and or grains etc??

The latest is they think people setting off fireworks on New Years caused the birds to panic and fly from their roosts in total darkness which caused them to crash into each other and the ground.

BREAKING: Hundreds more dead birds reported in Texas

Quote

A TV station in the East Texas town of Tyler reports that hundreds more dead birds have been discovered along the sides of a highway bridge. This news adds fresh fuel to a growing conundrum over the cause of hundreds of thousands of avian deaths in localities thousands of miles apart.

This is really getting rather strange. I'm beginning to think a disease is involved here.

A new strain of " Bird Flu " ?

Any chemical testing being done (government or state ) ?

It's worth noting it's affecting flocks at a time, or individual groups, in different areas.

So it's something fairly limited.
And since it's really not that uncommon, just uncommon to hit the news, (there's bee a few releases from game and wildlife representatives along these lines.)
The token skeptic.

I read something along those lines too Shadow, that 'experts' are saying its a rare but normal'ish' thing in nature.

200 cows died on a farm in Wisconsin recently. The article doesn't give a lot of info. This might not even be related.
