Ok I was at work and the radio comes on with a story that a Russian astronomer is predicting a collision of a comet with Earth at the end of October. Well everyone was like "WHAT??"

So I looked it up online abd found this article in a Russian newspaper http://english.pravd.../earth/84913-0/

Has anyone heard of this?? Can't really find anything on it from a "newsworthy" site, but there are other articles from a bunch of other sites.

This is the first I heard of it.

That's gonna put a damper on Halloween. I'm gonna go look for some more info...I don't quite understand that site, lol. There were serious articles listed, and then one about a werewolf? LOL

I don't really hold any stock in that publication...rings too much of World Weekly News.

I think Halloween will be ...er...safe this year.

I didn't see anything mentioning the IMPACT zone.
Where is this thing supposed to hit?

Perhaps he is talking about this one!!!

2006UE64 2006-Oct-21 0.0012 0.5 7.0 m - 16 m 11.64

basically stating this object will be nearest to earth on oct 21st passing by less then half the distance of the moon! well we are still here! So please be sure you have 'the good stuff' when i come knocking on your door for halloween!!! ( *NOTE* all houses that pass out healthy snacks will get toilet papered later in the evening tongue.gif )

I wonder if using a nuclear bomb against an asteroid would save us from a direct hit, or would that break the asteroid into thousands of smaller ones that would turn the earth's surface into something that looks like the moon's cratered surface?
