This was on the Unsolved Mysteries Ghosts boxset. I still fail to see how it is a "ghost story" as they never mention it being haunted. What I do find interesting is how a boatload of people disappear without a trace!

This link has some pretty interesting theories.

Regan MacNeil: What an excellent day for an exorcism.
Father Damien Karras: You would like that?
Regan MacNeil: Intensely.
Father Damien Karras: But wouldn't that drive you out of Regan?
Regan MacNeil: It would bring us together.
Father Damien Karras: You and Regan?
Regan MacNeil: You and us.

How very strange...But hasn't stuff like that happened at the Bermuda Triangle, people, ships, and crews disappearing as if into thin air? Even though I do find it hard to believe, there must be some truth to it.

Well, there are a few theories, one being that a captain from another ship, who BTW recieved the salvage rights the the ship's cargo was responsible for the disappearance of the crew. It was never proven in court, although one man tried many times to.

I was reading a theory on this the other day. The theory I read said the captain of the Mary Celeste was afraid the ship was about to capsize in a violent storm and so ordered everyone off the ship. Everyone in life boats, they all perish and the ship doesn't actually capsize after all.

here's the link I was reading.

The Mary Celeste is the most famous of the 'deserted ships' but there are many many many more. Other ones include: the Rosalie or Rosini (depending on whos account you read  ), the Marlborough (from NZ), the Seabird, the James B Chester, the Zebrina and the Belle Isle.

What ties most of these together are two things: many had their navigational tools removed and most were in a state of tidyness, with meals on tables and coffee in pots.

Interestingly though, the Marlborough was found with 6 skeletons onboard and the James B Chester had all its lifeboats still onboard.

The most plausable explanations are different for each vessel; however, the Marlborough was found over a year after she went missing (its not plausable they couldnt find landfall in a year, yet the skeletons showed no trace of foul play). Most explanations involve possible sudden or freak storms making crew fear the boat would sink (however not severe enough to cause mayhem within the dwellings of the ships?) Or that perhaps piracy was involved. I dont think in reality we can ever really know.
